The rules of using Cardhigher: what it is, what you may type on the leaderboard, what you may not do, and what voluntary contributions actually are.

What this is and what it costs

Cardhigher is a free browser game. There are no accounts, no subscription, nothing to buy inside and no ads. Using it means accepting these terms.

How the game works

Two cards come up, one with a value hidden. Guess which is higher and the streak goes up; get it wrong and the run ends. Ties count as correct.

The cards and the values compared come from third parties’ public databases. They may contain errors, they may be out of date and prices change: their accuracy is not guaranteed and they should not be used as a reference for buying or selling anything.

The leaderboard and what you type on it

When a run ends you can submit your streak with a name. That name is public.

Do not type your real name, someone else’s, an email address, a phone number or any other personal detail, yours or anyone’s. Do not type insults, sexual content, content inciting hatred or violence, or names impersonating another person, brand or institution.

The operator may remove or change any name breaking the above, without prior notice, and may limit access for anyone who does it repeatedly. There is also an automatic name filter, which is not infallible in either direction.

You can remove your name from the leaderboard at any time from Settings, with no explanation needed.

The feedback box

It is for telling us something about the game. Do not type personal details, yours or anyone else’s: there is no way to reply to you and it is not the place for them. Messages delete themselves after 60 days.

What you may not do

Automate play or score submission, use bots, tamper with requests to submit streaks that were not played, exploit bugs to alter the leaderboard, overload the service, attempt to reach non-public parts of it or other people’s data, and any use contrary to the law.

The operator may suspend access for anyone doing any of those things and remove scores obtained that way.

Voluntary contributions

There is a button to support the project that leads to a PayPal page. It is entirely voluntary: it is not a purchase, it gives access to nothing, unlocks nothing and grants no right or advantage in the game.

The payment, if you make one, happens entirely on PayPal and is governed by its terms. Cardhigher neither receives nor stores your card or account details.

As it is not a purchase of goods or services, there is no delivery, no commercial warranty, and the right of withdrawal that applies to distance contracts does not apply. If you want a contribution reversed, PayPal is who to talk to.

Shop links

When a run ends, links are offered for looking the cards up in third-party shops. Some are affiliate links: if you buy after going through one, Cardhigher may earn a commission from the shop, at no difference in price to you. It is stated next to the links.

That has no effect on which cards come up or which prices are shown: the deal is random and the prices are the data source’s.

Intellectual property and trademarks

Cardhigher is a fan project. It is not sponsored, endorsed or authorised by the owners of the card games that appear, and has no connection to them. Trademarks and images belong to their respective owners. The details are in the legal notice.

Availability, changes and liability

The service is free and provided as it is. It may change, be interrupted or be discontinued, and saved scores could be lost. Continuous availability is not guaranteed.

These terms may change; the version in force is always the one published here, with its date. If a change were substantial, notice would be given on the site itself.

The operator is liable under the applicable law and does not exclude liability where the law does not allow it. None of the above affects the rights that consumer law gives to anyone who qualifies as one.
